I want to donate but unsure how it works

I want to donate and buy a bis paladin 4 piece in the new upcoming realm Legionx5 , will the item scale through patches , I won't be able to equip it or the item I buy will have the same ilvl as the max ilvl of the current patch

PVE items donation will be opened gradually and you won't be able to buy it from the start. Items won't be upgraded with the new patches
