Holy Priest 7.3.5 In-depth Guide for Raids
❖ Foreword
Hello! My name is Gabriel or in-game name Iisus/Xinkeg and i play Legion expansion since 2017. My experience is mainly based on healer and then dps. Back then i had mythic progression on NH/TOS/ABT raids as healer main. I’m not the best healer, nor the worst one and none is because we, humans, make mistakes. So let’s have fun and enjoy. This guide is only for raids.
❖ Introduction
Before any comment, every healer spec is balanced in Uwow server. My strict opinion, and others, is that i notice/we notice that every healer can do well, at least on that specific boss/encounter. In order to perform well, you need to know, of course, when next damage spike is coming (pre-casting), where to place yourself and finally, your stats, talents, relics, set pieces and trinkets. Also, Holy Priest it’s arguably the easiest class to play.
Important note: Holy priest’s mastery is not working properly, for now January 2026. When it will be fixed, mastery will heal ~20-30% more (has 2 ticks instead of 3 ticks with 6 seconds instead of 9) Please check next link of reported issue regarding mastery: (https://tracker.legionbugs.com/view.php?id=32731)
Important note 2: Unless you’re running renew build

1. Stats for Holy Priest
• Best stats composition is Mastery>Crit>Haste=Versa (60%+ mastery, 40%+ crit, 10-20% haste)
• For sure, if you are low ilvl, you can go for 10-20% versa. 1.1. Set pieces ➢ Holy priest can play, with ease, T19, T20 and T21 set pieces since old raids items are now scaled to 7.3.5 patch. We have usually 2 builds here:
• T19 2p + T20 4p (tho, you need specific relics for that playstyle, see Relics page. That build is strong in encounters since you can spam Holy Word: Sanctify like a machine gun.
▪ T19 2p: gives you 100% more heals from Echo of Light when casting HW: Sanctify
▪ T20 2p: Serendipity reduces cooldown of Holy Words by up to an additional 1 second
▪ T20 4p: here’s our hidden gem your Holy Words have 40% chance to trigger a 50% reduced cooldown.
• T21 4p That build is strong in every encounter since you can easily spam Prayer of Healing + Binding Heal (tho, you need specific relics for that playstyle, see Relics page [4]) ➢ While playing T21 4p you can go Renew build tho (tho, you need specific relics for that playstyle, see Relics page [4])
1.2. Legendaries
➢ Universal BIS legendaries are Velen + Prydaz, period
• For T21 4p go Velen + Prydaz
• For T19 2p + T20 4p go Velen + Prydaz, also... Al’maiesh [Waist] is situational
• For Renew build go Entracing Trousers of An’juna [Legs] + Velen
• Cloak is a great legendary, you can go for that in hard encounters for safe play

1.3. Relics
• For T21 4p: Power of the Naaru + Holy Guidance o For 2nd tier we take Refractive Shell since gives us the most estimated HPS, see page [13]. The order is Refractive Shell > Master of Shadows > Shocklight > Murderous Intent.
• For T19 2p + T20 4p: Hallowed Ground + Words of Healing o For 2nd tier we take Refractive Shell since gives us the most estimated HPS, see page [13]. The order is Refractive Shell > Master of Shadows > Shocklight > Murderous Intent.
• For Renew build: Say Your Prayers + Holy Guidance o For 2nd tier we take Refractive Shell since gives us the most estimated HPS, see page [13]. The order is Refractive Shell > Master of Shadows > Shocklight > Murderous Intent.
1.4. Talents
• For T19 2p + T20 4p we take:
➢ 1st row: Enlightment (gives you 4,400 more mana regen); Helps spamming almost for free Binding Heal
➢ 2nd row: up to you, but Angelic Feather is more viable
➢ 3rd row: Afterlife is a strong pick here. Shining Force is situational
➢ 4th row: Light of the Naaru
➢ 5th row: Binding Heal, you can easily spam to reduce cooldown on Holy Words (Sanctify) in that case.
➢ 6th row: Divinity
➢ 7th row: Apotheosis is a strong choice here if you have intense healing stress under way. But if the encounter is easy, E.G: Garothi, Eonar, Varimathras, go for Benediction
• For T21 4p we take:
➢ 1st row: Enlightment or Trail of Light if you have mana management.
➢ 2nd row: up to you, but Angelic Feather is more viable
➢ 3rd row: Afterlife is a strong pick here. Shining Force is situational
➢ 4th row: Light of the Naaru
➢ 5th row: Binding Heal, good synergy with 4p set
➢ 6th row: Divinity
➢ 7th row: Benediction is a strong choice for that playstyle, Apotheosis can do good as well if you have knowledge about incoming damage spikes raid damage wide.
• For T21 4p Renew build we take:
➢ 1st row: Enduring Renewal to sustain Renew on targets
➢ 2nd row: up to you, but Angelic Feather is more viable
➢ 3rd row: Afterlife is a strong pick here. Shining Force is situational
➢ 4th row: Symbol of Hope (some seconds after pull you can press that and start popping up renews on everyone to save a lot of mana; Also helps other healers)
➢ 5th row: Binding Heal, good synergy with 4p set
➢ 6th row: Divinity
➢ 7th row: Benediction is the the hidden gem in that playstyle
1.5. Trinkets
❖ Before ranking, i want to say that i don’t really like proc trinkets for healers. (Some top healers review that aswell.)
➢ Holy priest should always have in slot velen, period
➢ 2nd trinket should be Aman’thul’s Vision or the following in that order:
• Highfather’s Machination [Good on prog]
• Sea Star of the Depthmother [The proc triggers mastery but depends heavily on your PoH usage but is generally quite strong]
• Unstable Arcanocrystal [For more/extra stats] • Deceiver’s Grand Design [Strong trinket if it doesn't proc the shield early, tends not to last the full 2 minutes though]
• Archive of Faith [Decent trinket if used well, difficult to not get sniped]
• Eonar’s Compassion [Preferable to similarly performing non-pantheon trinkets]
• Perfectly Preserved Cake [Requires good usage of the proc (doable in nearly every encounter)] For more Trinkets rating/stats, see pages [8-11]
1.5.1. Mana Trinkets
➢ In that order (including Enlightment talent why not):
• Enlightment (Talent)
• Carafe of Searing Light – Varimathras (ABT)
• Fluctuating Energy – Mana Devourer (Karazhan) [Only great if collecting all balls)
• Memento of Tyrande – Illidan (Black Temple Timewalking)
• Darkmoon Deck: Promises – Crafted: Inscription
1.6. Race
➢ Follow your heart <3 it really doesnt’t matter if you’re planning to play only raids as healer.
1.7. Rotation & Tricks
• For T19 2P + T20 4P rotation is HW: Sanctify > POH>Binding Heal>HW: Sanctify, repeat. You just have to spam HW: Sanctify at every 1-2 casts which reduce the cooldown of it. Note: Your HW: Sanctify CD can depend by your relics, haste %, script of the encounter etc. So just keep it on CD.
• For T21 4p rotation is POH + Binding Heal and you can throw some HW: Sanctify, if that’s the case, POM on CD.
• For T21 4p Renew build. Let’s say you’re on Aggramar, you can spam Renews on raid and continue its hot with all players, when it’s the case, you can throw Symbol of Hope to help you applying Renews etc for free. Benediction talent also does the job for you + Enduring Renewal talent helps you to keep Renews on raid (Applying some Binding Heal + POH). POM will help you by a lot following that build (keep on CD all the time). Legs legendary ofc, helps you a lot as well. So it’s mandatory to have that equipped while following Renew build
On bosses where 1 tick AOE, you need to spam POM, everything else, just spam for T21 4p since you can play like a normal Holy Priest without Renew, can still work and do a lot of heals
➢ Divine Hymn
Divine Hymn can be the worst healer CD or the best one. So you need some preparation before using Divine Hymn at maximum efficiency.
You need to have POM active due to „Renew of Faith” artifact talent which jumps without consuming charges then we proc Divinity from HW: Sanctify or HW: Serenity. Immediately after that, use Velen’s and finally pop Divine Hymn.
Note 1: If you are confident that you’ll not run OOM, go Prolonged before using Velen’s. Anyways, better keep pot CD for Leytorrent Potion.
Note 2: keep in mind that you have to plan your placement as well to not cancel DH.
1.8. End-game gear and tips (980-991)
➢ Your stats should be >=70% mastery, ~40% crit, ~16% haste and ~4% versa if you have mastery>crit gear, 4p t21 with prydaz + velen’s + aman’thul
➢ I personally play even on mythic progg with 4p t21 + 2p t19 with Apotheosis talent. ✓ PS: don’t equip 2p T19 in mythic because you should equip X’anshi cloak, unless the boss is easy.
➢ At this point i feel like Apotheosis talent is much more better, free mana from HW and secure heals than Benediction talent. Up to you if you want to spam POMs and there is raid wide damage (dependend of boss) to make POMs bounce and leave renews on targets due to talent.
➢ Aman’thul equipped, if not, Highfather’s Machination or healer’s pantheon trinket.
➢ High knowledge about damage spikes for pre-cast – i prioritise that for every healer.
➢ Prioritise leech then avoidance and finally you can fill sockets with versa if you’re bis on gear.
➢ Lastly, you can still do good having let’s say 50% crit, 30% haste and 50% mastery but not really anymore if mastery will finally be fixed [you’ll heal 30% more from echoes from that 1 more tick
Good luck on your progg.
2. More details... and theorycraft
2.1. Trinkets Ranking
➢ (Some trinkets have adjusted ilvl in order to be more „realistic”)
• We’ll start with „Great” tier list:
• „Good” tier list:

• „Average” tier list:

• „Poor” tier list:

2.2. Mana Trinkets ranking

2.3. Possible Light & Shadow Traits and ranking

2.4. Drape of Shame cloak
➢ This cloak has good stats (crit, versa) and increases the healing of your critical healing effects by 5%.
▪ So let’s break it down...

➢ Here we have some basic comparasion, multiplier is 1.05 (5%) from regular healing with cloak equipped.
• How much extra HPS is the cloak?
➢ In next table you will see some comparasion with other important cloaks based on hps gain. (If you have questions about formula i used, dm me on discord)

❖ As you can see, Drape of Shame is actually „good” to have, but not mandatory
2.5. X’anshi usage manual
➢ In the next page you’ll see an attachment about how to manually proc X’anshi cloak for each Antorus Burning Throne mythic boss.
• It’s not mandatory, i also don’t encourage to do it but since i like to explore more and more and it’s viable, here you go.
✓ Please zoom in the attachment or download it so you can fully read + notes
Summary
1. 1. The utility from [X'anshi, Shroud of Archbishop Benedictus] (combined with its stats) outweigh the slight healing increase. Don't drop it for Drape of Shame.
2. 2. The cloak is good. It's benefit isn't directly clear but some basic math shows us it's as good as. Of course, Drape of Shame should be 985 ilvl
3. 3. The cloak's value goes up with crit. As you gain more crit, it gains more value. It's not a linear increase due to crits tendancy to overheal more, but it's close.
4. 4. The above presumes you have an 985 Drape of Shame.
2.6. Q&A
• Q&A about EHPS (Further questions, dm on discord, Xinkeg)
Important: Data gathered, EHPS, weights etc are extracted from retail, so slighty difference on uwow server can differ but not on a average to great difference.
Q: What calcul formula is used for measuring EHPS?
A: There’s a complex formula based on that individual trinket stats + constants for individual overall stats, spells, proc chances, relics, talents.
E.g for Sea Star of the Depthmother:
• Formula for versa stat gain for 960 ilvl Sea Star trinket: [=892*1.15^((960- 825)/15)*0.994435486^(960-825)] wich equals with 1477 versa
• Formula for „Other”: [=29716*1.15^((960-900)/15) * tTraitCombinedHealingMulti * (1 + tMultiDivinity * sUptimeDivinity) * (1 + tTraitBoTMod * sUptimeBot) * (1+cPercentMastery*(1-cOverhealEol)) * (1+cPercentVers) * (1+cPercentCrit) * (0.285*Spells!$AD$6*8/60)*60*4 / 60 * (1 - cTrinketDevalueSeastar)]
„$AD$” represents Casts per minute using the CastingTime%/min and yes, another formula for that which i don’t think i’ll explain here. (If you have any questions, DM on discord)
• And finally, we have EHPS formula [=(G1030*cHpsInt)+(H1030*cHpsCrit)+(I1030*cHpsHaste)+(J1030*cHpsMast ery)+(K1030*cHpsVers)+L1030]
In that case, that trinket has versa stat which „K1030*cHpsVers” is the correct one in that formula, also L1030 represents the formula from „Other”
Q: Does these formulas applies exactly the same for other trinkets?
A: Obviously not. Each trinket has different approach/healing modifier.
2.7. Closing words...
➢ Closing words would be that if you follow healer path, you need knowledge about movement, placement, mana management, watching other healer poping CDs, using right heals at the right time/before any burst/pre-casting or phase and watching next damage incoming from that specific encounter. TLDR: you are like a driver.
